Matthew 27: 63 saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’ (9) 64 Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.”
Lamentations 3: 63 Look at their sitting down and their rising up; I am their taunting song. (9) 64 Repay them, O Lord, According to the work of their hands.

Matthew 27: 54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the SON of GOD!” (9) 55 And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar,  56 among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
Lamentations 3: 54 The waters flowed over My Head; I said, “I am cut off!” (9) 55 I called on Your Name, O Lord, From the lowest pit. 56 You have heard My Voice: “Do not hide Your Ear From My sighing, from My cry for help.”

Matthew 27: Jesus Dies on the Cross 45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. (9)  46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My GOD, My GOD, why have You forsaken Me?”  47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!”
Lamentations 3: 45 You have made us an offscouring and refuse In the midst of the peoples. 46 All our enemies Have opened their mouths against us. 47 Fear and a snare have come upon us, Desolation and destruction.

Matthew 27: 36 Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. (9) 37 And they put up over His Head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left.
Lamentations 3: 36 Or subvert a Man in His cause— The Lord does not approve.
37 Who is He who speaks and it comes to pass, When the Lord has not commanded it?
38 Is it not from the Mouth of the Most High That Woe and Well-being proceed?

Matthew 27: The Soldiers Mock Jesus 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. (9) 28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.  29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His Head, and a Reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
Lamentations 3: 27 It is good for a Man to bear The yoke in His youth. 28 Let Him sit alone and keep silent, Because GOD has laid it on Him; 29 Let Him put His mouth in the dust— There may yet be Hope.

Matthew 27: 18 For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy. (9) 19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.” 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
Lamentations 3: 18 And I said, “My strength and My hope Have perished from the Lord.” (9) 19 Remember My affliction and roaming, The wormwood and the gall. 20 My soul still remembers And sinks within Me.

Matthew 27: 9 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, (9) 10 and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”
Jesus Faces Pilate 11 Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, It is as you say.”
Lamentations 3: He has blocked My Ways with hewn stone; He has made My paths crooked. 10 He has been to Me a bear lying in wait, Like a lion in ambush. 11 He has turned aside My Ways and torn Me in pieces; He has made Me desolate.

Matthew 27: 60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. (6) 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb. Pilate Sets a Guard 62 On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate,
Lamentations 3: 60 You have seen all their vengeance, All their schemes against Me. 61 You have heard their reproach, O Lord, All their schemes against Me, 62 The lips of My enemies And their whispering against Me all the day.

Matthew 27: 51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, (6) 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
Lamentations 3: 51 My Eyes bring suffering to My Soul Because of all the daughters of My City. 52 My enemies without cause Hunted Me down like a bird. 53 They silenced My Life in the pit And threw stones at Me.

 Matthew 27: 42 He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the Cross, and we will believe Him. (6) 43 He trusted in GOD; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of GOD.’” 44 Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.
Lamentations 3: 42 We have transgressed and rebelled; You have not pardoned. 43 You have covered Yourself with anger And pursued us; You have slain and not pitied. 44 You have covered Yourself with a cloud, That prayer should not pass through.

Matthew 27: 33 And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, (6) 34 they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink. 35 Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: “They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.”

Matthew 27: 24 When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.” (6) 25 And all the people answered and said, “His Blood be on us and on our children.” 26 Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be Crucified.
Lamentations 3: 24 “The Lord is My Portion,” says My Soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”
25 The Lord is Good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.
26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the Salvation of the Lord.

Matthew 27: Taking the Place of Barabbas 15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished. (6) 16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.  17 Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”
Lamentations 3: 15 He has filled Me with bitterness, He has made Me drink wormwood.
16 He has also broken My teeth with gravel, And covered Me with ashes. 17 You have moved My Soul far from Peace; I have forgotten prosperity.

Matthew 27: 6 But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.” (6) And they consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
Lamentations 3: The Prophet’s Anguish and Hope He has set Me in dark places Like the dead of long ago. He has hedged Me in so that I cannot get out; He has made My chain heavy. Even when I cry and shout, He shuts out My prayer.

Lamentations 3: 57 You drew near on the day I called on You, And said, “Do not fear!”
58 O Lord, You have pleaded the case for My Soul; You have redeemed My Life.
59 O Lord, You have seen how I am wronged; Judge My case.

Matthew 27: 48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink. (3) 49 The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.” 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
Lamentations 3: 48 My Eyes overflow with rivers of water For the destruction of the daughter of My people. (3) 49 My Eyes flow and do not cease, Without interruption, 50 Till the Lord from heaven Looks down and sees.

Matthew 27: 39 And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads (3)
40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of GOD, come down from the cross.”
41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said,
Lamentations 3: 39 Why should a living man complain, A man for the punishment of his sins? 40 Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord; 41 Let us lift our hearts and hands To GOD in heaven.

Matthew 27: 30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. (3)
31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.
The King on a Cross
32 Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His Cross.
Lamentations 3: 30 Let Him give His cheek to the one who strikes Him, And be full of reproach. 31 For the Lord will not cast off forever. 32 Though He causes grief, Yet He will show Compassion According to the multitude of His Mercies.

Matthew 27: 21 The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!” (3)
22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
23 Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be Crucified!”
Lamentations 3: 21 This I recall to My Mind, Therefore I have hope.
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Matthew 27: 12 And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. (3) 13 Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?”  14 But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
Lamentations 3: 12 He has bent His bow And set Me up as a target for the arrow.
13 He has caused the arrows of His quiver To pierce My loins.
14 I have become the ridicule of all My people—Their taunting song all the day.

Matthew 27: Jesus Handed Over to Pontius Pilate. When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.
And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor. Judas Hangs Himself 3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, (3) saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it! Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.
Lamentations 3:3 I am the Man who has seen affliction by the Rod of the Lord’s Wrath.
He has driven Me away and made Me walk in darkness rather than light; 3 indeed, He has turned His hand against Me again and again, all day long. (3) He has made My skin and My flesh grow old and has broken My bones. He has besieged Me and surrounded Me with bitterness and hardship.
